In addition to the insight provided by the thought leaders, Luis Cotto of Egleston Main Street and Diana Bourke of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Fall 2014 cohort of CityLab was visited by three locally-based individuals who are leaders in their practice:
Andrea Limauro Neighborhood Planning Coordinator, Ward 2, DC Office of Planning Limauro is a well-respected community planner responsible for 79,000 District residents. He acts as the "sustainability point person for [the] Neighborhood Planning Division" and was the project manager of the Ward 5 Works industrial land transformation study. Limauro presented a summary of Ward 5 Works to CityLab in the early weeks of the Fall cohorts participation. A recommendation in the study provided foundation for my team's project, the Good Neighbor Program. | Delano Hunter President, Gateway Community Association Hunter is well known by many DC locals for his involvement in local politics, most notably as a candidate in the 2012 special election for the Ward 5 city council seat left open by Harry Thomas Jr. A Carey Business School student, CityLab alum, Hunter was able to convey a unique perspective to the current cohort on how to approach outreach and work within the DC community. | Ricardo Martinez Graduate Assistant, CityLab A former participant in CityLab who has a successful reputation for his role as Project Manager of his CityLab team, Martinez found the experience to be enriching and unique within Carey Business School. His strong support of the program led him to become a voluntary Graduate Assistant for the program. Martinez provided his advice and insight into the ingredients needed for an effective CityLab engagement. |
